The best time of day to fish in Puerto Vallarta

Early. This one's not close.

The bite is best in the first hours of light — bait is up, predators are feeding, and the water is at its calmest before the afternoon breeze builds. Charters leave Marina Vallarta around 7am for exactly this reason, and the boats that leave at noon are the ones posting sunset photos, not fish photos.

There's a second, practical reason: going early means you're back by early afternoon with the whole day still ahead of you. Fish the morning, eat your catch for lunch, beach for the sunset. That's the correct Vallarta day.

Afternoon trips exist and they catch fish — the ocean doesn't close at noon. But if you're choosing, choose the morning. When you book, we'll set the departure; just don't negotiate yourself into a 10am start to sleep in. The fish won't wait.
